Hobie, (a nickname from birth), entered Scouts as a Tiger Cub Scout of Pack 391 while in Gemini Elementary School and achieved the Arrow of Light Award. As a Scout in Troop 330, he took on several positions of responsibility such as Den Chief, Patrol Leader, and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader. He has now completed his requirements for Scouting's highest rank of Eagle in BSA Troop 330 and is a Troop 330 Guide. The flag pole and garden developed for Grace Lutheran Church of Melbourne Beach is an Eagle project to recognize the Grace Lutheran Community and their support as a sponsor to BSA Troop 330 for over two decades.
As a senior at Melbourne High School, Hobie continues his academic achievements and plans to go to college upon graduation. His favorite subjects are history, science and world politics. His special appreciation for the outdoors has led him to become an authority on native vegetation and its historical medicinal applications. His interest in the Local Native American culture may stem from his deep Florida roots as he can trace his ancestry in Florida back to the original settlers.
